Summary:

Tsukamoto Tenma is an ordinary 2nd year high school student who has fallen in love with one of her classmates, Karasuma Ooji. However, currently she is unable to confess her feelings to him. To make things worse, she found out that Karasuma is transferring to another school in a year. On the other hand, Tenma’s other classmate, Harima Kenji (who is a delinquent) is also in love with Tenma. Not being able to confess his feelings, Harima gets depressed day by day.

Main Review:

This anime was funny, sad and epic all rolled into one. It is my second favorite anime if not my first.. School Rumble was written and drawn up by Jin Kobayashi, he wrote School Rumble while at collage, and was finally able to serialize it after winning the Weekly Shonen Magazine’s Rookie Award in 2001.

I have to say I absolutely dreaded even getting School Rumble, it looked like it would be an anime with horrible voice acting, horrible jokes, and just be plain horrible. But after watching the first episode, my eyes opened! Not only does School Rumble have amazing voice actors, but it is actually very funny, yet sad at the same time. It is truly a must watch!

The anime was pretty amazing, great animation and voice acting, it has great story, the right amount of funny and seriousness, and many awkward moments that leave you crying from laughter and pity. It has the feel of a romantic comedy throughout the whole anime. Although School Rumble isn’t for anyone, if you don’t like romance, randomness, and drama, then it might not be the right anime for you, but I will encourage you to try it, it is a great anime.

Anime vs. Manga:

Well having read the manga I have to say, the Manga wins. It was a great manga but I won’t go into detail here, just know, the manga was better than the anime for a couple reasons: 1. The manga had the side comments 2. There are jokes the manga makes that weren’t in the anime 3. The anime has more fan service, but the manga has more explicit language 4. The manga finished, and let me tell you the ending was amazing!
