Summary:

After being brutally murdered along with her family, Makina Hoshimura turns into a Shikabane Hime, a living corpse contracted to the Kougon Cult, in order to exert revenge on the mysterious undead organization responsible for her death. She is assisted in this task by Keisei Tagami, her contracted priest and former friend. This series follows the story of Keisei’s younger brother Ouri, a boy with an unusual attraction to death, who slowly discovers his brother’s secret and gets dragged into the world of the Shikabanes.

Main Review:

Shikabane Hime is an anime worth watching, with the intense fight scenes, the tear jerking emotional scenes, superb voice dubbing by FunAmation, and amazing story, I became an instant fan of the show. The fight scenes were very intense, though some people might say the fight scenes are just Makina gets hurt and then gets super powerful and defeats whomever she is fighting but they are more than that, the fight scenes show the bond between Shikabane Hime and Contracted Monk, all the fight scenes showed that bond either growing or diminishing. The emotional scenes exceeded my expectations, I found my self holding back tears at times, I don’t want to spoil anything but just know that I will remember this anime for the emotional scenes. The voice acting was very well done, all the actors did very well, barely anything sounded corny except for Ouri’s scream done by Aaron Dismuke, it just wasn’t very convincing. The story on the other hand was pretty well done, it wasn’t like a slash ‘em up anime were it’s all about the blood and guts, the story is there and up in your face about it, very well done. Overall it was a very good anime I will recommend it to everyone!

Luci Christian:

I decided to add this extra section because Luci Christian has amazing voice acting skills, and she doesn’t disappoint in this anime, the emotional scenes were 10x better with her in it, she is very talented and this anime proved it!

Pros:

Great story, great voice acting, very emotional, and great fight scenes.

Cons:

Aaron Dismuke’s scream felt kinda corny, .but it doesn’t really affect the anime that much.
